Description Dillon 2011-05-05 22:23:34 UTC
pulseaudio does not detect or attempt to open the first soundcard unless the config is edited. Note that the modifications to ~/.asoundrc or /etc/asound.conf are not necessary if

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install pulseaudio with USE="alsa pulseaudio" in make.conf
2. Run pulseaudio
Actual Results:
Pulseaudio does not detect the first sound card (the built in one) unless you edit /etc/pulse/default.pa or ~/.pulse/default.pa to manually load alsa card drivers

Expected Results:
Pulseaudio loads the sound card

ThunderFox ~ # emerge --info pulseaudio

"Note that the modifications to ~/.asoundrc or
/etc/asound.conf are not necessary if"

I misread the alsa configuration files so disregard that.
Note that a simple `cp /usr/share/alsa/pulse.conf /etc/asound.conf` fixes that though.
