People, stop filing bugs about adding development snapshot/release versions to tree, from the 4.10 development branch. It makes absolutely no sense to add 2 unready (beta) packages from Xfce 4.10 and mix them up with Xfce 4.8 stable. So, please, investigate, before filing useless bugs, bigger version number doesn't mean it's better or newer. Thanks, Samuli
This is because quicksearch doesnt show closed bugs =)
OK, let's talk about Xfce 4.10 a bit, and lay out facts: We will add them in tree when enough of xfce-base/ has been released pre tarballs. Then we will also open a Tracker to follow it's progress. And preferably the versions are something of x.y.1 and not .x.y.0, as in, beta1 instead of beta2 in terms of version scheme Xfce has used before. There will even be a =xfce-base/xfce4-4.10_pre ebuild at some point if dependencies change enough. But all this is very very premature. Let's leave gentoo-x86 with very well maintained Xfce 4.8 which is, in my opinion, best shape it has ever been. Let's continue patches that deprecate No more HAL, ebuilds are exactly correct to a point it's scary, only gtk-doc handling needs fixing in xfconf.eclass. Then xfce4-dev-tools has circular dependencies with the xfce-overlay. Few ebuilds using libxfcegui4 needs to drop USE=debug since it's broken, you need to port to libxfce4ui to debug anything. To put it short: Let's wait for every core component to get a release tarball, then we can add them all in tree and start porting non-core components to whatever changes it needs. Or you can use Xfce overlay right now, angelos has been doing apparently good job with it.Should be in layman.
Let's correct typing errors: (In reply to comment #10) > instead of beta2 in terms of version scheme Xfce has used before. beta0 instead of beta2, of course, my bad s/beta2/beta/ ...old components, and ditch thunar-vfs from tree asap. Sorry. :-(

package.mask now has: # Samuli Suominen <ssuominen@gentoo.org> (20 Feb 2012) # Mask what will be the Xfce Desktop Environment 4.10 for testing >=xfce-base/exo-0.7.0 >=xfce-base/libxfce4ui-4.9.0 >=xfce-base/xfce4-panel-4.9.0 >=xfce-base/xfce4-settings-4.9.0 >=xfce-extra/xfce4-appfinder-4.9.0 and the 4.9.x versions of above packages has been added to Portage but I didn't include Thunar 1.3.0 in purpose, since it's way older than any 1.2.x release closing this one now, file a new bug for new instances
