I've just updated vte, and now, when i run gnome-terminal i got this error: Failed to load terminal capabilities from '/etc/termcap'. Also 'Enter' key doesn't work. Here is explanation, how to fix it: http://www.mail-archive.com/desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com/msg488878.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Update vte 2. run gnome-terminal 3. Actual Results: Error appears
This appears to happen because the termcap path changed. The solution is to stop all your terminal applications that use vte, and restart them. With gnome-terminal it's not enough to just start a new one because that will attach to the already running process.
killall gnome-terminal and restart a new instance of the application. Older upgrades did this as well, not a bug.

I hunted this down to make sure I wasn't reporting the same issue over again because I just experienced it as well. I would recommend including a notice for users post-install since restarting *all* gnome-terminal processes probably isn't apparent to a lot of people.
