When resuming from a suspend to disk, the image is read and decompressed to 100%, then the screen flashes and goes completely black. At the same time, USB ports are powered down and the keyboards becomes completely unresponsive. The only way to go ahead is to physically turn the computer off. Notice that suspend to ram works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Suspend to disk, e.g., with echo -n disk > /sys/power/state 2. Resume Actual Results: After completion of reading and decompressing image, the computer completely freezes with a black screen. Expected Results: The computer should return to the state it was at hibernation. The problem seems to be related to the following commit http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/hjl/linux-2.6.37.y.git;a=commit;h=72f2999e41d09468b29de855ffc02f94e87a675e By manually reverting the patch, and recompiling the kernel, the computer works properly, i.e., it correctly resumes after hibernation. There do not seem to be other issues associated with it, as all works fine afterwards. Suspend to ram, of course, keeps functioning properly too.
This commit was reverted on 2.6.38 tree. http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-2.6.38.y.git;a=commit;h=8f114f1414335ed352e54d0343909d7b69a81432
Sure, but the 2.6.38 tree is still masked. A revision 5 of the 2.6.37 could be made reverting the commit in the meantime.
I have a similar problem on my laptop. Resume from hibernation completely locks up the laptop, necessitating a hard power down. The only difference between my symptoms and what was reported in the original description is that my screen doesn't go blank; I can still see the resume text. The last two lines are: PM: Read 819408 kbytes in 9.06 secibds (90.44 MB/s) Suspending console(s) (use no_console_suspend) to debyug) This began happening immediately after upgrading to stable gentoo-sources 2.6.37. A stable version fix would be appreciated.

vanilla-sources 2.6.38.7 and gentoo-sources-2.6.38-r6 which contains 2.6.38.7 is now stable. I don't plan on releasing another 2.6.37 kernel.
