Chdkptp provides a lua API to the CHDK (open source canon camera firmware modification) ptp protocol implementation on the PC. A CLI and optional GUI based on IUP library are implemented in lua. 
None of the libraries used by chdkptp are in portage tree (uip, im, cd) 
here are the instructions for building the libraries for linux http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/iup/

Hi Daniel,

I've been working to get these libraries on gentoo for a long time. Their build systems are crappy and they abuse of bundled libraries as well.

Not sure about when we'll get them working properly on Gentoo :(
