Description Rambaldi 2011-04-27 11:38:48 UTC
from the fprint mailing list:

Heya,

New versions of libfprint and fprintd available. Many thanks to Sergio
Cerlesi for his Validity VFS101 driver, and the associated bug fixes.

libfprint:
2011-04-18: v0.4.0 release
 * Add support for Validity VFS101 (USB ID 138a:0001)
 * Fix crasher when resizing a fingerprint image
 * Fix wrong timeout being returned when either of
libusb or libfprint doesn't have a timeout
http://people.freedesktop.org/~hadess/libfprint-0.4.0.tar.bz2

fprintd:
version 0.4.0:
- Loads of new translations
- Fix crasher when PAM module gets unloaded
- Use GIO to monitor D-Bus clients instead of custom code

And version 0.4.1 to fix building with documentation enabled.
http://people.freedesktop.org/~hadess/fprintd-0.4.1.tar.bz2

Reproducible: Always

Simple version-bump works for me on x86_64, but pam_fprintd_enroll still fails with the following error after scanning my finger 5 times, it fails on the sixth pass. fprintd-enroll works...

[...]
Scan your finger now.
Enroll failed with error -22

Device is:
ID 147e:2016 Upek Biometric Touchchip/Touchstrip Fingerprint Sensor

Cheers,
Bjoern

Sorry, pam_fprintd_eroll is most likely deprecated and has nothing to do with the packages mentioned here.

Comment 5 Ulf Dambacher 2012-01-07 08:31:38 UTC
please remove pam_fprintd and update the other packages in gentoo ebuild archives.

This will stop confusion about the enroll -22 error above which struck me, too
Comment 6 Dieter Ries 2012-03-05 12:38:47 UTC
I support #5, the version bump to fprintd-0.4.1 is as simple as renaming the ebuild, and it works well!

Do you mean sys-auth/pam_fprint? I prefer it, beacaus it doesn't need polkit/*gnome*.
