Description Jonathan Beilin 2003-12-25 19:45:26 UTC
genkernel 3.0.1_beta2 doesn't compile reiserfs support by default for the linux 2.6.0 kernel with gentoo patches. easily remedied with a manual config.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge genkernel 3.0.1_beta2
2.emerge gentoo-dev-sources for the 2.6.0 stable kernel
3.run genkernel

Actual Results:
i had a working kernel but no reiserfs support.

Expected Results:
by default compiled reiserfs support.

Same problem with 3.0.1_beta3.

This way people who use ReiserFS as their root filesystem will have to configure the kernel manually.

--menuconfig

also, it would help if you mentioned what arch
but I'm assuming since you didn't you mean x86
because I mean, what other arch is there? geez

Reopening as a feature request

As long as we're on the topic, allegedly the default configs for genkernel need some work. Brad says he'll still provide the AMD64 config, but could x86-kernel look over existing configs and come up with some decent defaults?

I don't know about other archs, either.
Comment 5 Brad House 2004-01-28 19:02:30 UTC
well, I created a sane x86 default config, though not well tested as
I'm mainly on amd64. It does support reiserfs by default, closing.
(_beta8) ...
sorry if I was snippy previously.
