mirror.averse.net (aka rsync.sg.gentoo.org and in the rsync.asia rotation) failed to come up after being moved to a different rack. H/w replacement is expected to take at least a week. Reproducible: Always
Hello, I removed the entries from DNS for now. Please let us know when the server is functioning again. Also, do you know how much usage you get? I'm just curious. Thanks.
I can't really check the usage logs now... but I guess I'd get at least one share of the rsync.asia round robin. Not sure how many use it as rsync.sg or rsync1.sg though. I'll update again when the server is back up.
ping?
The server's power supply had failed. I replaced the psu and it back in service on 2nd May, but didn't announce it while getting everything synced up. Then I noticed that something else was wrong, with i/o taking ages to complete. Eventually, the server failed again on 7th May. This time, it should be the OS drive that failed. I gave up on the aging hardware, and am in the process of ordering a new replacement server...
After some adventures in getting replacement h/w ordered, configured and put back into the data centre, my portage mirror is back up and running again, and should be stable now. Sorry for the extended downtime. I have more disk space with the new h/w, so I should be able to provide a distfiles mirror in a couple of weeks, after I've returned from an overseas trip. I'll file a separate bug when that's ready.
thx, re-enabled.
