This is the same as bug 357559 Mike, if you check the bug, do you remember that we would do the same as alpha if we found two or three packages? So its up to you. Meanwhile i'll test rebuilding the system with -mieee and check if something breaks, although i doubt it considering it doesn't break on alpha... Guess i'll have the results this week.
System rebuild is fine, so i guess you can add -mieee by default on sh.

apparently they enabled it by default in gcc-4.6 and gcc-4.7 i'm inclined to fix bug 439988 in gcc-4.6 and gcc-4.7, and then leave existing 4.5 and older behavior
