Description Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2011-04-15 07:09:10 UTC
It seems to me haskell-updater doesn't "see" the packages installed in a Prefix installation, although it does appear to find some prefix-paths. More investigations necessary.

% haskell-updater --upgrade
Running haskell-updater using GHC 6.12.3
  * Executable: /Library/Gentoo/usr/bin/ghc
  * Library directory: /Library/Gentoo/usr/lib/ghc-6.12.3
  * Package manager: portage

Searching for packages installed with a different version of GHC.
No old packages found!

Nothing to build!
% qlist -Iv haskell
app-admin/haskell-updater-1.1.3.0
dev-haskell/binary-0.5.0.2
dev-haskell/cabal-1.8.0.2
dev-haskell/dataenc-0.13.0.2
dev-haskell/filepath-1.1.0.2
dev-haskell/hashed-storage-0.4.10
dev-haskell/haskeline-0.6.2.2
dev-haskell/html-1.0.1.2
dev-haskell/http-4000.0.8
dev-haskell/mmap-0.4.1
dev-haskell/mtl-1.1.0.2
dev-haskell/network-2.2.1.7
dev-haskell/parsec-2.1.0.1
dev-haskell/quickcheck-1.2.0.0
dev-haskell/regex-base-0.93.1
dev-haskell/regex-compat-0.92
dev-haskell/regex-posix-0.94.1
dev-haskell/terminfo-0.3.1.1
dev-haskell/utf8-string-0.3.6
dev-haskell/zlib-0.5.2.0

Something that bothers me is the following:
% qlist dev-haskell/zlib
/Library/Gentoo/usr/lib/ghc-6.10.4/gentoo/zlib-0.5.2.0.conf
% qlist dev-haskell/utf8-string
/Library/Gentoo/usr/lib/ghc-6.10.4/gentoo/utf8-string-0.3.6.conf

(they just seem to install a conf-file, nothing more)

Is there actually anything _to_ do? Have you just upgraded GHC? If so, from which version?
Comment 2 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2011-04-15 07:20:21 UTC
I went from 6.10.4 to 6.12.3
Comment 3 Sergei Trofimovich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-04-15 07:58:35 UTC
Latest prefix tree has $EPREFIX unaware h-u-1.1.3.0.
Main portage has supposedly $EPREFIX aware 1.2.0.0 one.

Fabian, which of them did you use?
Comment 4 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2011-04-15 08:27:03 UTC
the prefix version, so it seems I should use the version straight from gx86

Ok, I'll come back here once I'm at my ppc-macos machine again and updated haskell-updater :)
Comment 5 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2011-04-15 15:11:34 UTC
haskell-updater-1.2.0.0 works like a charm!
