Matrox released a new set of drivers (1.1.0 beta) last week and no ebuild seems to have made it into the portage tree yet.  I modified the existing 0.3.0 ebuild script for the new version and it seems to work for me.  The driver and kernel module correctly load and new features in the X server are enabled, Xv etc.

I ended up basically rewriting the ebuild to eliminate some issues. 1.1.0_beta is in CVS. Thanks for notifying us.
