Description roltel 2011-04-13 06:55:04 UTC
If you turn on the "sample" useflag for dev-libs/cyrus-sasl, you get a message after installation that you can manually build the samples by using the following command:
"cd /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample && make"
For me, building the samples fails with an error message (No rule to make target `am--refresh).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Turn on useflag "sample" for dev-libs/cyrus-sasl
2. # emerge cyrus-sasl
3. # cd /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample && make
Actual Results:
cd .. && make  am--refresh
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples'
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `am--refresh'. Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples'
make: *** [../configure] Error 2

Expected Results:
Building of samples should succeed without any error messages.

I attached the build.log for cyrus-sasl. Please keep in mind that building cyrus-sasl works without a problem. Trying to manually build the samples afterwards creates the problem.

I ran into this bug trying to build test server/client for kerberos (sample USE flag). If you emerge cyrus-sasl as follows:

localhost#FEATURES="keepwork" USE="sample" emerge -1 cyrus-sasl
localhost#cp -r /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23-r4/work/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23/sample/ /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples

You will then have the needed binaries. However, I was still not able to get it to work. It dies with the following error:

localhost#cd /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample
localhost#./server -s host -p /usr/lib64/sasl2/
Servname not supported for ai_socktype
localhost#

A quick search tells me this has something to do with the /etc/services file.

I also found this conversation: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.security.cyrus.sasl/4624

It says to:
make sample-client sample-server

Doing so from /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample results in the original error. However, it does work if done in: /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23-r4/work/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23/sample

I again copied all of the files from /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23-r4/work/cyrus-sasl-2.1.23/sample to /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample and changed directories to /usr/share/cyrus-sasl-2/examples/sample. At that point the following command worked as expected:
./sample-server -s host -p /usr/lib64/sasl2/

Hope this info helps...

Should be fixed in cyrus-sasl-2.1.25. Please reopen if it is still a problem.
