When I do emerge bootsplash, it goes fine until

gcc -O2 -Wall -I/usr/include/freetype2 -L/usr/lib -static -o fbtruetype.static -L/usr/lib fbtruetype.o messages.o console.o ttf.o luxisri.o /usr/lib/libfreetype.a /usr/lib/libz.a -lmgcc: /usr/lib/libz.a: No such file or directory
make: *** [fbtruetype.static] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge bootsplash

Actual Results:  
I get a File not found error during compiling and it doesn't finish.

Expected Results:  
Bootsplash is emerged

I just did a emerge sync and emerge -update world.
It seems that emergeing zlib 1.2.1-r2 fixes the issue
