Fredrik, can you please check on this? Thanks.
Thanks for the heads up. This seems a bit odd though, as I have no problem using the ftp (tested from 3 different networks). The files are not out of date (it's the same files as for http). Is it only the test that fails or are there any user reports of the ftp hanging or something? The logs show many successful downloads the latest few days too... I restarted the ftp-server, we'll see if that helps. From what IP is the tests done otherwise?
Hm, ok. The tests results are here: http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org/#se - Could you be blocking that IP somehow?
The firewall is really simple, and there is currently no ip-addresses blocked for FTP access. Are the tests done from mirrorstats.gentoo.org as well, or are there some other address I should check for? I've added logging to the firewall so that I can see blocked accesses. So far there hasn't been anything interesting...
Correct. It has been done on mirrorstats.gentoo.org for a long time (CNAME to magpie.gentoo.org).
I have no idea why but it appears that it has started working again... I started a tcpdump on the interface to see if I could find any ftp traffic from mirrorstats.gentoo.org, and shortly afterwards I noticed that the timestamp file was downloaded and now it seems like mirrorstats.gentoo.org is updated... I guess I'll keep an eye on this for a while to see if the problem returns.
Weird. Thanks for checking on this and your prompt responses. For now, I will close this bug.
