Description Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-22 17:07:55 UTC
These are old and seem only to cause confusion. Is there any hardware that only works with these and not newer ones? I suggest you remove it, or make it a "top level" package, that depends hostap-driver and hostap-utils.

Either that, or make a note during installation that more recent drivers are available as hostap-driver.

At least I was confused;)

Also, please note that the new hostap-driver ebuild should be fixed:

- It depends on pcmcia-cs package even if you have pcmcia support in your kernel
- It doesn't work with 2.6 kernels
Comment 2 Conrad Hoffmann 2004-01-27 15:23:14 UTC
i think the ebuild needs to determine if a 2.6 kernel is used and call "make 2.6" in that case, the sources do compile ok this way...

I would agree, the net-wireless/hostap ebuild definitely causes confusion.

net-wireless/hostap was removed from portage. Closing as FIXED.
