Description Yuta SATOH 2011-04-11 11:58:01 UTC
I think that Gentoo/FreeBSD (AMD64) doesn't support multilib now.
However, the profile specifies multilib.

If you hope for a true multilib support, some packages will have to be changed.
I don't think that it is easy.
Additionally, there are few packages where it is needed even if multilib is supported.

so, I propose to change it to 64bit-native.

FYI, http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97162
It's bug by which I added the multilib support on ppc64.

patch for profiles

To use 64bit-native when this patch is applied, it is changed.

It should be choosable like in amd64-linux-gnu "no-multilib" & default pair so the two development line don't disturb each other. I think most of people doesn't need multilib profile.

Pursuing multilib support doesn't make sense until amd64 is in good shape.

It is also difficult to implement multilib support. Are you willing to do the work to support multilib?

multilib support has been added to sys-freebsd/freebsd-lib-9.0-r3.
