Due the following change to use Gnome3 defaults on metacity: http://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?id=72dfc33520472306d7b8f791b8f23e65dd3ff88e Cantarell font is used instead of Sans for window border. This looks undesirable if we want to run metacity-2.34 on Gnome 2.32 (as I am currently running) since (maybe because we don't have Cantarell font in the tree) window border font will look pretty ugly (not sure what theme change implies :-/) I would vote for reverting that commit at least until we have Gnome3 in the tree and need metacity as fallback mode Reproducible: Always
I had no problem with metacity 2.34 before jumping to gnome 3. Could you add a screenshot ?
Created attachment 269453 [details] 1.png This shows how appearance properties blames about missing "Adwaita" theme and you can also see how window border font is worse that "Sans Bold" (maybe because I don't have Cantarell installed)
I know problem with font is a bit subjective :-/, but maybe I noticed it more because I was using a different size on my account (don't remember just now :-( )
ah right, I didn't notice the "Adwaita" stuff, and indeed the font problem doesn't hit me, even with the screenshot :)
If you try to change it back to Sans Bold, will notice it looks better ;)
metacity-2.34.0 shouldn't be used with GNOME 2...
Okay, I've masked this in the tree under a GNOME 3 mask. This release of metacity is not supposed to be used with GNOME 2 at all. It'll be unmasked later.
