I formerly had Mozilla 1.4-rc3, and decided to upgrade to Mozilla 1.5. After backing up my .mozilla directory with settings, I compiled Mozilla 1.5-r1 without problems, and it runs. However, every time I start Mozilla it displays an empty list of profiles. I then create a profile called "Default User", click the "Start Mozilla" button, and the application correctly detects my settings and runs. (I mean that my e-mail settings, bookmarks, and homepage are detected.) When I exit Mozilla and restart it, it again presents me with an empty list of profiles, and I have to "create" the profile again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Type "mozilla" from a command prompt within X. 2. Create a profile matching user from previous Mozilla version. 3. Run Mozilla for a while, exit normally. 4. Type "mozilla" to restart the application. Actual Results: I tried this several times, and each time was presented with an empty list of profiles. Whether I click the "Don't ask at startup" checkbox or not makes no difference. I also noticed that I had a "default" directory for another profile in my .mozilla directory. Deleting the "default" directory made no difference. Expected Results: I expect Mozilla to remember my profile, and not ask for this information every time it starts. The following is the output from "emerge info": Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r3, 2.4.20-gentoo-r9) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.20-gentoo-r9 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/share/config /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs sandbox ccache userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo ftp://ftp.gtlib.cc.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com ftp://cudlug.cudenver.edu/pub/mirrors/distributions/gentoo rsync://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.us.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="apm avi libg++ mikmod mpeg quicktime truetype xv ruby tcpd qt motif aalib acl -acpi -afs adns -alsa -arts berkdb -cdr -cjk crypt cscope -cups curl -debug directfb doc -dvd emacs -encode -esd ethereal fam fbcon -foomaticdb freetds -gd gdbm gif -gnome gpm -gps gtk gtk2 -icc imap imlib innodb -ipv6 java jpeg junit -kde -kerberos -krb4 lcms ldap leim libwww -mad -maildir mbox mcal memlimit mozilla mpi mule mysql -nas ncurses -nls odbc -oggvorbis opengl -oss pam pdflib perl plotutils png -prelude python readline -sasl sdl -slang snmp socks5 spell sse ssl sqlite svga tetex -usb X Xaw3d x86 xml xml2 -xmms zlib"
I have installed Mozilla 1.6 today after running "emerge sync", and am no longer having this problem. Mozilla 1.6 read the .mozilla/ directory created by Mozilla 1.4 without problems.
