Please, upgrade scrollkeeper to 0.3.14 . It was released on 5th december. Thank You, Slobodan Sredojevic
0.3.12 is in portage 0.3.13 needs intltool-0.28 (say gnome-2.5 specific) 0.3.14 does not need it but it would fail without a patch to remove a sandbox violation : sandbox violation (open_wr: /etc/xml/catalog) at least, it was the case last time i tried it 0.3.14 now uses its own real XML Parser, (in fact, XML::Parser perl module if i read well)
scrollkeeper isnt herded, foser do you want it gnome or text-markup maybe ?
hmm dunno really.. both ? what is your opinion ? i thought i asked you quite a while ago to update it, because you seemed the best person to know what was going on with it. comment #2 seems to be confusing intltool & scrollkeeper
the whole scrollkeeper thing works btw, so updating is no priority afaic.
Foser, I don't think so. Please read the rest. Also, want to point out something strange with yelp(scrollkeeper setup) When I open Yelp in Gentoo I see: --------------------------------- Help Contents GNOME - Desktop Additional documents * Manual PAges * Info Pages --------------------------------- When I open Yelp in Fedora I see: --------------------------------- Help Contents GNOME - Desktop * Accessibility * Desktop * Applets ... * Development * Multimedia * System Additional documents * Applications * Development * System * Manual PAges * Info Pages --------------------------------- Have installed latest Yelp in Gentoo and Fedora. It is 2.4.2. Scrollkeeper in Gentoo is 0.3.12. Had 0.3.12 and 0.3.14 scrollkeeper in fedora - same (good) results. So, think there is problem with scrollkeeper setup.
Ok, this is not just me: In this message: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-devel-list/2003-March/msg00039.html there is the same problem - gentoo involved. > >agian and wont list any scrollkeeper docs, just man and info pages. >Sometimes (very rare) that warning wont come up and I can actually >navigate the gnome documentation, and have been able to get to my >scrollkeeper docs. > >I am running Gnome 2.2 and scrollkeeper 0.3.11 on a Gentoo v1.4 system. > To help further, found that when you start Yelp as root everything is right - all categories are shown, but when you run yelp as user you will see just man and info categories. Starting it from terminal (as user) it gives message: Use of deprecated SAXv1 function startElement Cheers, Slobodan Sredojevic
Thats like an early 2003 message with another problem (same symptoms), i bet you can find messages like that for almost any distro. I could tell you that your db is corrupt/non-existing beforehand, but this is not a general problem and i see no reason to suggest it is due to our current scrollkeeper/yelp setup or something and that upgrading scrollkeeper will fix this for you. Since it only happens as users, maybe the permissions on the /var/lib/scrollkeeper dir are incorrect ? The sax parser warning seems to be harmless and happens everywhere.

This was one of the important fixes in the most recent scrollkeeper release: temporary files are now stored in a per-user directory.
