Snipplet of the current ChangeLog of 0.10.1 (In portage there is 0.10.0) NOTE: Previous versions of MyDNS may be susceptible to a denial-of-service attack. Upgrading to this version is recommended for all users. (This justifys "major") So please bump the portage version. Simply copying the ebuild should be enough as no major change occured. While doing this you could also put mydns to x86 stable and perhaps to the other architectures aswell (the debian package compiles fine on all archs). The current version of mydns (0.10.1) also supports IPv6. A use flag check could be added for it.
mydns is such a tiny pkg that we wont be doing a GLSA for this ~arch pkg. We wont add something new and bump it to stable right away either unless it's a major security problem such as overflows. The security team does not add new functionality to ebuilds, thats better suited for the maintainers. So Philipp what I suggest is you attach an updated ebuild with the functionality that you desire to make everybodyes lifes a bit eaiser. It's a great exercise at getting involved with Gentoo.
Created attachment 22541 [details] mydns-0.10.1 ebuild I didn't say something about a GLSA but a version bump ;) I know that the security problem isn't critical. I attached a new ebuild. However the ipv6 use flag was not required as it's detected while configure so the changes were slight. I justify x86 stable as this version will probably get released as 1.0.0 soon. It contains out of the current view no serious bugs. The other arches compile well on Debian, that's all I can say. * Version bump * Added ~ppc ~sparc ~alpha ~hppa ~amd64 ~ia64 * Marked x86 stable * Aliasing patch enabled.
In CVS. Closing bug.
