Description Dean Hamstead 2011-04-06 11:04:40 UTC
Hello Gentoo Mirrors,

We would like to add our mirror here at Optus as a Gentoo official mirror here in Sydney Australia.

Optus is a large Australian Telecommunications Provider.

Our mirror is a pair of reasonably standard intel servers with 2 gig of outbound throughput combined.

We offer via http on http://mirror.optusnet.com.au/gentoo/
and ftp ftp on ftp://mirror.optusnet.com.au/gentoo/

The appropriate contact for any issues is mirror@staff.optusnet.com.au, which is a list on our mailman list server - meaning you will always find the right person even if i move on to bigger and hopefully better paid roles etc.

Could you please provide your prefered source for us to sync from, and we are happy to sync as frequently as you feel is optimal.

Thank you

Dean Hamstead

Hello. On behalf of the mirror-admin team, I want to apologize for not getting back to your bug report. At this time, we are closing ALL new mirror request bugs.

The Gentoo Linux Infrastructure team and the mirror-admin team have found that a plethora of community mirrors exist and adding more requires an exponential amount time from us then we have available. As such, this becomes a more poor user experience than desired because the team cannot keep up. The Gentoo Linux project is not contrained in hardware resources and does not need anymore mirrors (even if your request is for a country that is not represented currently).

Thanks for understanding and thank you for your interest.
With regards,
Jeremy
