Trying to emerge wine and sandbox result in:

checking whether we are cross compiling... configure: error: in `/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/wine-1.3.17/work/wine32':
configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up 64-bit Gentoo
2. emerge wine

Actual Results:  
checking whether we are cross compiling... configure: error: in `/var/tmp/portage/app-emulation/wine-1.3.17/work/wine32':
configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.

Expected Results:  
Wine should emerge correctly.

Please attach config.log as emerge tells you.

I'm no longer sure this is a valid bug. A few other things with a few other programs went wrong and it may have been because something broke while installing Gentoo. A reinstall left me with this and other problems cleared up. 

I did find similar problems on other architectures when I searched online, so I'm not sure this should be completely ignored. However, I'm going to mark it resolved invalid and if someone else has a similar problem AND a re-install of Gentoo isn't the fix, it can be reopened.
