When I've tried to emerge links, it failed due to libpng not being present on the system. emerging libpng solves the issue. This problem probably applies on the other architectures. Cheers, Guillaume
It appears this may be related to a portage problem, and is fixed in upcoming portage release (read works for me with newest test portage but not with current release)
which version of links does this error on?
for me it errors on links-2.0.. still errors with portage-2.0.1
Is png in your USE environment?
You should also try to rm /var/cache/edb/dep/* stale files left there don't calculate deps properly and if you tried it before those files are there. With USE="png" emerge links it works for me (pulling and isntalling libpng first). This is with portage-2.0.1
Sorry I was away from the net this last days. So my USE variable was not containing png at all. Links version was 2.0. The only problem I think is the missing dependeny in the ebuild, not something depending from portage.
