As of postgresql-base-9.0.3-r1, pg_dump (backup utility) is located at: /usr/lib64/postgresql-9.0/bin/pg_dump and is not found on the path. I use sudo -u the postgresuser pg_dump to run backups. $ sudo emerge postgresql-base -pv [ebuild R ] dev-db/postgresql-base-9.0.3-r1 USE="ldap nls pam readline ssl zlib -doc -kerberos -pg_legacytimestamp -threads" LINGUAS="-af -cs -de -es -fa -fr -hr -hu -it -ko -nb -pl -pt_BR -ro -ru -sk -sl -sv -tr -zh_CN -zh_TW" 0 kB Thanks. Reproducible: Always
What version of eselect-postgres have you got? What eselect postgresql list" displays?
You should have /usr/bin/pg_dump which is a symlink (set by eselect postgresql) which should point to /usr/lib/eselect-postgresql/binwrapper.
Thank you. It was the lack of running eselect postgresql that caused the missing symlinks. Since I only run one version of PostgreSQL at a time, I did not know I needed to run this. At any rate, the tool did not run automatically on my system. Thanks for the advice.
This is fixed with app-admin/eselect-postgresql-1.0.6
