Description Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-20 02:32:09 UTC
Each time I have compiled Mozilla-Firebird, in any computer I have tried, always at compile time, it makes the PC-Speaker beep... this is quite annoying (mostly at night) so I wonder wether I have been doing something wrong or it's just a bug (??) in the compilation.

In fact, it does compile, but during compilation it produces random pc-speaker beeps...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge mozilla-firebird

Actual Results:
The pc-speaker beeps during compilation, it's not a continuous beep, but random
in time short time beeps.

Expected Results:
Beeps should not be produced.

Portage 2.0.49-r18 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.3_pre20031212-r0, 2.6.0)

Believe it or not, this is a Frequently Asked Question and is addressed in the online FAQ list:

Comment 2 Ioannis Aslanidis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-20 06:38:56 UTC
Incredible! But the question is... why? Why does it do it? There must be a logical explanation after all...

TY for the FAQ link.
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-12-22 22:15:20 UTC
perhaps the moz people can explain exactly why ?

at any rate the bug is closed, we have a FAQ for this ;)

Does this mean this bug should be reported at http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ ??
