Description Alexander Potashev 2011-04-01 13:13:21 UTC
The package kde-l10n supports a list of localization languages (LINGUAS), it contains "sr" for Serbian localization. But there are a few variants of Serbian localization. I think, it should be possible to install only one variant (for example, only sr@ijekavian) to save disk space.

The whole list of KDE localization variants:
be@latin, ca@valencia, sr@ijekavian, sr@ijekavianlatin, sr@latin, uz@cyrillic

Reproducible: Always

Not sure if we want to do this. After all they are in one tarball...
Comment 2 Alexander Potashev 2011-05-21 19:59:14 UTC
Every new localization is ~1000 new files installed into /usr/share/locale/. I think, it's better to avoid such big number of unnecessary files.

In my opinion this can only be resolved if upstream would package the variants seperatly. The only solution would be to disable the variants, but i think there many people who doesnt want to loose their variant speaking kde.

Maybe a topic for next gentoo kde team meeting?

We decided to stick with the upstream tarballs. If you want this realy happen, file a bug to kde.bugs.org that the variants released in seperate tarballs.
