Hi, Since the last update Firefox doesn't show icons for downloaded files anymore. I'm unsure whether this is a Gentoo specific bug or rather a general Firefox bug, so I first try it here. When I download files, Firefox still recognizes the correct MIME type and also the default application, so it is NOT a problem with file associations in general. However, there is no icon anymore, neither in the download options dialog, which appears when I click a link to a download file, nor in the downloads list. The space where this icon should appear is now empty. This didn't happen in Firefox Beta or RC. I have already tried creating a new profile and completely unemerging and reemerging Firefox; no success. Then I reverted back to Firefox 3.6 and there the icons showed up again but as soon as I upgraded to Firefox 4.0 the problem returned. I once had such problems with some release of Firefox 3 (or 3.5/3.6, I don't know anymore) but that's long ago and there it was a general issue with file associations. The problem fixed itself some time, so I don't know what caused it. By the way, Thunderbird 3.3 has the same issues, so it might be a problem with the Xulrunner package or some other code they share. Using =www-client/firefox-4.0-r2 (from official repository, not from mozilla overlay) on KDE 4.6, no problems with file/folder icons in general (other GTK programs work nicely). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I have no idea, just try.
This might be due to our permanent disabling of gnome-vfs support in favour of gio.
Would you be able to fix it?
Hmm. I just created a local overlay for xulrunner and firefox where I removed the sed line. However, that didn't change anything.
Gio is the standard, upstream does not care about icons for downloads anymore.
