Description Charles Phoenix 2003-12-19 11:37:24 UTC
xmess lauched from a gui will remain in memory, launching xmess again will start a new xmess the old one remains in memory.

If launched from a terminal xmess does not release control of the terminal, requiring ctrl-c

Does this have anything to do with settings?

I will do a test and remove the -fomit-frame-pointer, didn't notice that until now.

compiling without fomit-frame-pointer does not fix the problem
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-01-01 02:14:29 UTC
what gui were you using ?
Comment 4 Charles Phoenix 2004-01-01 05:20:15 UTC
first it was being launched from Konqueror, when closed the xmess process would remain in memory bring the system to a crawl

now I have it launching via a script so when the Konsole window is closed so is xmess.

I had the same problem using twm.

xmame is being launched via gxmame.

If I remember right there is a way to "watch" and trap xmess so it will display where it is hanging? Just point me to the directions.

Comment 5 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-02-22 15:27:09 UTC
could you try out 0.79.1 and see if this bug still exists ?
Comment 6 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-19 03:42:11 UTC
Try 0.81.1 and report here if this is still a problem please.
Comment 7 Charles Phoenix 2004-04-19 05:38:17 UTC
In short, duplicating the scenario on this secondary computer would be difficult so technically this bug is now invalid, so I am closing it.

Thank you for your patience.
