Size of build log is 1765KB > 1000KB limit, therefore I can't upload it in bugzilla. I made it available at this url: http://tot-to.com/files/qutecom-build.log
You could have compressed it. Anyway, the error is: /var/tmp/portage/net-im/qutecom-2.2_p20110210/work/qutecom-2.2_p20110210/libs/pixertool/src/v4l/v4l-pixertool.c:24:28: fatal error: linux/videodev.h: No such file or directory compilation terminated. So, the reason is obvious.
Don't qutecom works without webcam? SIP protocol widely used for audio-only comuncations.

Webcam support is unfortunately not optional. I can make qutecom depend on older linux-headers for now, and see if the build system can be modified to not build the v4l1 part.
Seems to be tracked upstream here: http://trac.qutecom.org/ticket/287
qutecom was removed from tree
Reopening.
And I will be removing it again since I don't see patch to build against newer linux-headers and it's not allowed to force downgrade of linux-headers in the same stabilization level (be it stable or ~arch)
If you remove it then at least follow proper procedure. Although I honestly see no reason to remove it as long as <linux-headers-2.6.38 ebuilds exist in tree.
(In reply to comment #11) > If you remove it then at least follow proper procedure. I've done that the first time around, I don't think second round is required: http://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/msg_5e6d8403c90549d8caf4f27f0d14f01f.xml > > Although I honestly see no reason to remove it as long as <linux-headers-2.6.38 > ebuilds exist in tree. No package out of toolchain is allowed to downgrade linux-headers. And closing as WONTFIX again, since the package is no longer in Portage.
Ah sorry, I missed that mail for some reason. > # Samuli Suominen <ssuominen@g.o> (13 Sep 2011) > # Fails to build with linux-headers-2.6.38 and above, plus other issues > # Removal in 30 days 30 days from 13 September 2011 is not 30 September 2011 Please restore the qutecom package.
Do not restore, and please stop this whole charade. If the package can get fixed to use non-deprecated V4L1 headers _do so_ then re-add it to portage. But do not even ask to add it if it's still broken. 30 days, 60 days, 14 days... if you wanted to, or knew how, to fix this you would have done so in the six _months_ before it was removed...
I already said in my mail to -dev that it was on my TODO list, but I considered it a minor problem and there were always higher prioritized items until now. I accept the mask for removal, and I now only ask that proper procedure be followed as described in http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=2&chap=5#doc_chap8
Keeping bug open until package can be tested properly
Seems to work, closing.
