I booted gentoo-alpha-1.4-test1-20030916.iso. I was able to use fdisk to edit and create partitions, but /proc/partitions never showed any partitions (only the discs), and there were never any dsfs for the partitions (only the discs). Rebooting made no difference. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot gentoo-alpha-1.4-test1-20030916.iso. 2. Create OSF partitions using fdisk. 3. cat /proc/partitions and notice that there *are* none. 4. Note the lack of partition dsfs. Actual Results: It was *really* hard to install. :-) I'm pretty sure that simply adding "Alpha OSF partition support" to the kernel will fix this problem. I apologize if this is a dup of a bug I tried to submit last night. I thought the submission was successful, but I can't find it in any queries...
re-assigning to alpha team. I'm on the ppc team =)
This is fixed in Jay's new livecds
