Description Ian Abbott 2011-03-29 09:18:04 UTC
Building net-libs/libdmapsharing-2.1.13 fails if the "doc" use-flag is set. I tried it with MAKEOPTS="-j1" as well, but it made no difference.

It looks like its trying to build the docs before anything else and fails because the linker can't find a .la file that hasn't been built yet.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="doc" emerge -1 =net-libs/libdmapsharing-2.1.13

Actual Results:
See build.log

The order of subdirs must be wrong I guess. It tries to build the doc before it building the lib.

That's correct, but after modifying the SUBDIRS line to build the docs last (the ebuild already runs eautoreconf), it still fails to build:

Comment 4 Ian Abbott 2011-03-31 09:17:52 UTC
Perhaps the ebuild could be changed to not build the documentation (i.e. not use --enable-gtk-doc), but install the pre-built documentation from the tar.gz file?
Comment 5 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-31 09:23:10 UTC
That's what it does with --disable-gtk-doc. See bug #239524 for how we would like to change that.

libdmapsharing-2.1.13-docs-build.patch

Proposed patch, addresses all 3 issues:
- SUBDIRS order
- gtk-doc parallel build
- missing version of .la file for doc scanner
