If you are typing something in the textbox, sometimes no text appears eventhough the cursor is blinking and focus seems to be ok. To correct this, one have to re-focus the textbox by clicking it by mouse. This has happened under KDE 3.1, KDE 3.2_beta2, Konqueror and Mozilla, so it can't be KDE/Qt-widget-only bug, though it appeared after emerging KDE 3.2_beta2. I'm using Xfree 4.3.0-r3. Output of emerge info: Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.3, glibc-2.3.2-r1, 2.4.22) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.22 i686 AMD Duron(tm) Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.10p1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /opt/jakarta/tomcat/conf /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="sandbox ccache" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 oss apm avi crypt cups encode foomaticdb gif jpeg gnome libg++ mad mikmod mpeg ncurses nls pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xmms zlib gdbm berkdb slang readline arts tetex aalib nas bonobo svga tcltk java guile mysql sdl gpm tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gtk qt motif mozilla gphoto2 cdr X alsa kde xv lirc opengl gtk2"
This Bug has not had any update since a long time. It also is more an upstream bug suited for http://bugs.kde.org/. I am closing this Bug, please reopen if this is still an issue for you and you think this is a Bug related more to the way Gentoo packages KDE than to KDE itself.
Close dead old bug originally resolved "needinfo".
