GNUs Icecat 4 based on Firefox 4 has had its first RC released, be great to see this in portage. http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnuzilla/2011-03/msg00026.html Reproducible: Always
My plan is to add icecat-4.0 as soon as there's a final release. I won't add any release-candidates or other unofficial versions to the tree.
Ok, cool, seems sensible, hopefully it won't be too long. (Would be nice if xulruner could be slotted to allow FF-4 and Icecat-3.* to be simultaneously installed, but thats an issue for a separate bug). Thanks for the quick response.

Indeed. xulrunner used to be properly slotted (1.8 and 1.9 branches) but then xulrunner 2 was placed in the 1.9 slot, rendering the mechanism useless. Would it be possible to create a 2.0 slot?

May I ask why and whether the decision is motivated by technical issues? pkg-config files would need to be versioned for one, which mozilla team is not large enough to handle, not to mention any package that uses non versioned pkg-config files would need to be patched. We also have the reason that people are not moving forward but instead wanting to continue to depend on older less secure versions.

I still wish the slotting was possible, but I understand your position.
