Description Gabriel 2011-03-22 13:05:25 UTC
Using the package x11-drivers/ati-drivers-11.2 produce a segmentation fault when launching X, rendering the xorg server unusable.

This get fixed when downgrading to x11-drivers/ati-drivers-10.12, so I will stay on this version until the new one is working on my computer.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge =x11-drivers/ati-drivers-11.2
2. launch Xorg
3.
Actual Results:
Xorg segmentation fault

Expected Results:
No segmentation fault

I have two Radeon HD 5670 configured with crossfire.

Here is emerge --info

Pls fill a bug upstream, this is not something we can solve i think :(
Comment 3 Gabriel 2011-04-23 14:49:48 UTC
Hi,

This bug has been marked as resolved in upstream.

May I know which version?

I am asking because the 11.3 version did not solve this issue.

I'm sorry but resolved upstream just means the bug needs to be solved by AMD, gentoo can do nothing about it. Needless to say, if you think (and possibly can proof) this is a gentoo specific problem you (or me) can reopen this bug.
Comment 5 Enrico Tagliavini 2011-04-23 14:56:18 UTC
oh btw you can find the unofficial ati-drivers bugzilla here http://ati.cchtml.com/ . AMD looks at it, so you may want to fill a bug there.

Cheers
Comment 6 Gabriel 2011-04-25 21:22:47 UTC
Nope I cannot prove that this is a gentoo bug, as this is probably not the case.

I will try to log a bug at the url you gave, worth a shot.

Cheers,
