I wrote a patch for mirrorselect to make automatic speed tests on rsync mirrors in DEEP mode. 
I am not really sure if this actually makes sense, because of the aliasing in the names used.

thank yiu very much for this.
I shall keep it around although policy enforces us in most cases to use the round-robin groups for continents/countries instead of a unique sync mirror.
