Description Alex Efros 2011-03-19 23:27:51 UTC
NOTE: 238.3-r3 (removed from overlay) compile on my system without issues.

 * Preparing vmmon module
make -j3 HOSTCC=i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc CROSS_COMPILE=i686-pc-linux-gnu- LDFLAGS= auto-build KERNEL_DIR=/usr/src/linux KBUILD_OUTPUT=/lib/modules/2.6.36-hardened-r9/build
Using 2.6.x kernel build system.

One more issue (unrelated to this bug, but related to latest updates in overlay): vmware-workstation-7.1.3.324285 works fine without hal, but -r1 require hal (thus result in installing several additional packages as hal dependencies on my system) - are you sure vmware really need it and dependency on hal can't be made optional with USE flag?

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Steve Kutnar 2011-03-20 02:54:10 UTC
Confirming error in build and irritation in requirement for HAL to be pulled back in.
Comment 2 Vadim Kuznetsov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-20 03:17:12 UTC
I reverted hal commit. must be only me :(.

Do you have HRT enabled in kernel?
Please test -r8 with unlocked_ioctl patch.

(In reply to comment #2)
> I reverted hal commit. must be only me :(.
workstation downgraded automatically to -r0, --depclean removed all HAL crap.
> Do you have HRT enabled in kernel?
If HRT is HighResolutionTimer then yes, it's enabled.
> Please test -r8 with unlocked_ioctl patch.
-r8 installed without issues.

Thanks for quick fix!
