Description Mattias Granlund 2011-03-19 20:04:40 UTC
I can't get gnome-terminal-2.33.90 to build. Can't find and missing dependencies (though this is a fresh gnome-install and not an upgrade.) The fault is the same as in bug 356239.

  CC gnome_terminal-terminal-type-builtins.o
  GEN encodings-dialog.ui
Usage: gtk-builder-convert [OPTION] [INPUT] [OUTPUT]
Converts Glade files into XML files which can be loaded with GtkBuilder.
The [INPUT] file is

-w, --skip-windows Convert everything but GtkWindow subclasses.
-r, --root Convert only widget named root and its children
-h, --help display this help and exit

When OUTPUT is -, write to standard output.

Examples:
  gtk-builder-convert preference.glade preferences.ui

Try emerging with V=1, so we can see the whole failing command.

Sorry for probably being a moron, but how do I do that? This is my first bugreport, and I've been away from gentoo for a couple of years. -V gives me version, -V=1 returns unknown and V1 is Version oneshot...
Comment 4 Rafał Mużyło 2011-03-19 21:10:45 UTC
IIRC, 'V=1 emerge -1 gnome-terminal'.
Or you could just go into the dir where it was unpacked and 'make V=1'.

Comment 6 Rafał Mużyło 2011-03-19 22:07:36 UTC
Well, the problem is simple, but will be quite annoying to fix:
/usr/bin/gtk-builder-convert --target-version=3.0 encodings-dialog.glade encodings-dialog.ui

'--target-version=3.0' isn't present in gtk+-2.24, it needs the copy from >=gtk+-3.0.0.
Comment 7 Rafał Mużyło 2011-03-19 23:20:51 UTC
OK, a little correction, it will be a bit easier than I thought:
--target-version=3.0 is present in 2.24, just not in --help output,
but not in 2.22.

It's still a pity, that the author didn't simply convert the files in the git, even though another one of gtk+ devs clearly said, that gtk-builder-convert should not be used the way gnome-terminal uses it, but just as one time conversion tool.
Comment 8 Nirbheek Chauhan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-03-19 23:22:47 UTC
I've made gtk+-3.0 specifically pull in gtk+-2.24, earlier it was just depending on the slot. That should fix the problem. Thanks everyone!
