Because of a nasty bug in cups I had to update to 1.4.6. After that, I am not able to print some pdf documents, p.ex. a pdf from acroread after using pdfnup on it. Without pdfnup it works. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just try to print the pdf-attachment. === Software === net-print/cups-1.4.6 USE="gnutls jpeg perl png python threads tiff -X -acl -dbus -debug -java -kerberos -ldap -pam -php -samba -slp -ssl -static-libs -usb -xinetd" app-text/ghostscript-gpl-9.01 USE="X cups djvu -bindist -gtk -idn -jpeg2k" net-print/splix-2.0.0 USE="jbig" app-text/pdfjam-2.05 === Hardware === x86 with Samsung ML-2250 connected via usb.

The document prints fine here. This looks more like a bug in splix or ghostscript-gpl. Can you please try different versions of both? E.g., also for example stable ghostscript?! Keeping the bug open but removing it from the stable blockers, since it seems to affect only one specific out-of-cups driver module.
Please reopen and attach the requested information if the problem persists with recent versions of cups/ghostscript/splix.
