1) It doesn't appear clear to me whether this is a warning or an error. Deprecation warnings usually aren't fatal. Could you post some more output from the web server log?

2) Also, we don't know which version of dev-lang/php you are using. Please add that information, and put it in the Summary as well.

Yes, but the webapp did not work at all. Only that message and a white screen.

The apache error log just shows the same error and nothing else.

current stable version: dev-lang/php-5.3.5

And update: using current ~arch phppgadmin works fine (5.0.2)

I have been experiencing this exact problem.  Installing the ~x86 5.0.2 version seems to correct the issue.  I still can't log in yet, however I believe that to be a separate issue.

This worked for and got the login screen to appear:

open the file complained of, e.g. /var/www/[your virtual host domain]/htdocs/phppgadmin/classes/Misc.php, and remove the "&" in line 344.
