I see that if there isn't 
[*] Enable loadable module support  ---> 
nvidia-drivers does not build

Is a good idea to put in the ebuild a small check?

Gentoo doesn't need to be fool proof. If you don't want to load modules into your kernel and turn off that feature, how are you supposed to load the nvidia kernel module? We could ply the tree with these safeguards against this kind of PEBKAC and never see the end of it.
