Attached screenshot shows that most of the applets are not available. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add Xfapplet to an XFCE panel. 2. Right-click on it, choose Properties, and try to add an applet Actual Results: Only one applet is listed. Another one ("Invest") showed up after I re-emerged xfce-extra/xfce4-xfapplet-plugin. Expected Results: Expecting to see others, including the weather applet (which I started using after the XFCE weather applet stopped working in the XFCE 4.8 upgrade). Emerging gnome-base/gnome-applets-2.32.1.1 with the -gnome USE flag produces the following lines, not sure if it is significant (the lines do not appear when using +gnome for USE): * Messages for package gnome-base/gnome-applets-2.32.1.1: * python_mod_optimize(): 'invest' does not exist

BTW, I ran into this issue on two different Gentoo machines.

Other Gentoo Xfce members: Should we simply lastrite this package? GNOME 3 is flowing in to tree, and this isn't compatible with it anyway. The package needs gnome-panel-2 with bonobo support which isn't supported in 3 anyway AFAIK. No upstream for this plugin either. And it has always been extremely unstable (once you add applets, you can't even remove them). Futhermore, xfce4-xkb-plugin works again and recent GIT has a lot of fixes to it. Futhermore xfce4-weather-plugin works now too. So +1 from me to remove this plugin from tree
(In reply to comment #7) > Other Gentoo Xfce members: No opinion from me (or neutral opinion anyway). I agree that you have highlighted a few problems that a distro cannot fix.
Removed from Portage -> Closing as WONTFIX
