Description Benjamin Schindler 2011-03-08 17:59:28 UTC
Since I updated to 2.6.37, vesafb refuses to work. Booting gives me a blank screen until x starts. 2.6.36 worked just fine.

I checked that cat /proc/config.gz | gzip -d | grep FB
are identical for 2.6.36 and 2.6.37 to rule out kernel config problems

One notable difference is that hwinfo --framebuffer reports different stuff on 2.6.37 than on 2.6.36.

On 2.6.37, I get:

metis ~ # hwinfo --framebuffer

So obviously, more modes seem availble on 2.6.36 indicating some edid problem may be?

Reproducible: Always
