looks like the -m32 flag gets passed to gcc somehow. Just want to mention that it is on a hardened box if that should have anything to say... I'm getting this too on amd64 no-multilib hardened - core i7. But it compiled fine on two amd no-multilib hardened with core 2 duo and xeon.
Added upstream link, also reported on FreeBSD.
This is the minimal values that allow it to compile: increase: GRUB_KERNEL_I386_PC_RAW_SIZE by 6 GRUB_KERNEL_I386_PC_NO_REED_SOLOMON_PART by 8 However I can't do a boot test on that for a while (remote servers).

Grub compiles and boots in kvm. I'll attach my 'emerge --info' later.
Created attachment 268329 [details] emerge --info for reference My emerge --info to have a reference of a working system.

I am using hardened system with an intel i3 series. This patch worked. Ebuild needs to be updated with it, please. I ran into this problem about a month ago.
gnu.org is down so i cant confirm that they have handled (but it is reported) this bug upstream and so it would be fixed hopefully in the next RC. But if that is the case we could just wait, but i am not the grub maintainer so it is up to them/her. This is a RC after all...
her/them/he/it/is sorry the herd?
