Description Thomas Kohler 2011-03-04 20:36:28 UTC
1.) In my opinion the important informations from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=191611 have to be added.

2.) The basic configuration for /etc/tomcat-6/tomcat-users.xml has to be added (access to manager page).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge tomcat

Actual Results:
No description of this issues are found at the site:
1.after install of !not masked! tomcat start goes wrong.
2.after fix this issue, manager does not work.
3.optional using of tomcat-native should be described (no dependency - can also be a bug?)
4.after install using "doc" or "example" USE flag both don't work without configuration (can also be a bug?)

Expected Results:
Using this documentation should end with a working tomcat and a basic knowledge of using tomcat.

Unless the tomcat package is ~arch, only the stable baselayout and initscripts should be documented.

Still, it's not the GDP's problem. We don't maintain documents in /proj/. The Java team is responsible for their stuff.

If/when I make a new guide for Tomcat 7, I will take the suggestions into consideration.

The old website has been migrated to a wiki [1]. You are more than welcome to set up an account and pitch in.

Closing the ticket, because our bugtracker will likely not help in this case.
Better edit the wiki, use the talk/discussion page and discuss on IRC/Forums.
