this ebuild places the following at /etc/devfs.d/thinkpad:
REGISTER ^thinkpad/.*$    PERMISSIONS root.thinkpad  0664

but the thinkpad group does not exist and the ebuild doesn't create it, resulting in an error printed to the screen during system init when devfs is started.  devfs then uses the group root instead.

metadata says base-system and it has nothing to do with xfree herd, giving it back to them.

added to 4.3-r1 and 4.8, thanks for the bug report

i was thinking synaptics (which is xfree) before ;)
