There are a good number of zabbix users who are still on 1.6.x who have never migrated to 1.8.x and who probably will migrate to 2.0.x when it is released rather than 1.8.x.    1.6.9 last I checked has no security vulnerabilities and is still supported by Zabbix upstream.  Would you like to create this ebuild, or I can do so...but I don't have the earlier ebuild template you used for previous 1.6.x releases.

I just dug out an older ebuild from viewcvs.gentoo.org :)

Since I haven't thoroughly tested it please beat it up a bit - and if you wish add yourself as maintainer as I am not taking care of it well enough.
