'emerge -d --depclean' suggested to remove pdflib. After the removel revdep-rebuild complained about missing libpdf in Term-Gnuplot, swftools, gnuplot and grace and rebuild them. Some programs as pdf2pdf disappeared. So I am wondering about the reason for the removel.

Sorry for the question and thanks for the link. I was googling for "gentoo libpdf and gnuplot" and did not find any helpful.
