Description meyerm 2011-02-24 18:25:04 UTC
The update to libgcrypt-1.5.0_beta1 breaks kopete-4.6.0's OTR-plugin. When trying to start a new converstation it complains about "Invalid length". Downgrading libgcrypt to 1.4.6 makes it work again without recompiling of kopete.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. update libgcrypt
2. start conversation in kopete
3. enable OTR-encryption

Actual Results:
OTR-negotiation fails with "Invalid length"

Expected Results:
encrypted connection

Is this problem specific to kde-base/kopete[otr] or does it occur with other applications using net-libs/libotr?
Comment 3 Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-02-24 18:47:47 UTC
Please test some other packages from the following list:
http://tinderbox.dev.gentoo.org/misc/rindex/net-libs/libotr
Comment 4 Matthias Liebig 2011-02-24 19:53:29 UTC
Breaks also x11-plugins/pidgin-otr on ~amd64. Downgrading libgcrypt worked.

Comment 6 Mao PU 2011-03-10 09:30:41 UTC
Also breaks x11-plugins/pidgin-otr-3.2.0 on ~x86. Downgrade as suggested in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=357043 works, but the issue in portage tree remains.
Comment 7 Thomas Tacke 2011-03-16 10:11:20 UTC
Also breaks otr in net-im/mcabber. A downgrade of libgcrypt work.
Comment 8 meyerm 2011-04-07 18:50:42 UTC
libgcrypt-1.5.0_beta1-r1 is still problematic
Comment 9 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2011-04-11 21:17:44 UTC
The upstream commit to fix this is here:
http://git.gnupg.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=libgcrypt.git;a=commit;h=3c18377a55085faf4df745034056bac53565effa

Though it doesn't apply to 1.5.0_beta1 any more. Either someone could try to backport it or a git snapshot could be used until a new 1.5 beta comes out.
Comment 10 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-01 09:03:51 UTC
I'd better masked _beta1 in t
Comment 11 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-01 09:06:20 UTC
I'd better masked dev-libs/libgcrypt-1.5.0_beta1 as all beta releases should. Guys, ~arch is for _stable_ packages that going to became arch one day not for random upstream snapshots...
Comment 12 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-01 12:50:12 UTC
Grml, this is going to get tricky.
A downgrade might be difficult to achieve, but I agree the beta shouldn't have reached ~arch.

It fails to apply mostly in ChangeLogs. Backporting one earlier commit is sufficient.
Comment 14 Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-05-01 16:04:39 UTC
Fixed in dev-libs/libgcrypt-1.5.0_beta1-r2.
