Description Robert Blenkinsopp (XenoPhoenix) 2011-02-23 09:34:36 UTC
Weird one here, x11-libs/cairo-1.10.2-r1 merges fine, packages that are merged after this one appear to have a corrupted include path and are unable to fine headers such as:

gtk/gtk.h
sigc++/slot.h

which are definitely in the correct locations.
One package which definitely fails is cairomm (could not find the sifc++/slot.h header file) and from looking at the log the include paths were .. and . which are obviously wrong.

I can only assume that the cairo ebuild is some how corrupting the include path though I'm not sure how.

Hopefully somebody else can confirm this as currently it's holding back a lot of other packages.

This was a problem with me having to mark mesa as provided in package.provided in-order to have virtual/opengl satisfied.

My system was not providing gl.pc for pkg-config and this version of Cairo adds gl as a dependency in it's pkg-config file.

This was fixed by providing my own gl.pc.

ok, but then it's not really fixed, is it? Or is your issue totally due to some system-related problem?
Comment 3 Robert Blenkinsopp (XenoPhoenix) 2011-03-22 14:36:21 UTC
My prefix system I don't have root on and runs the proprietary NVidia driver. If I emerge mesa my X server fails to report Xgl extensions. Hence I added mesa to my package.provided to satisfy virtual/opengl for other packages.

The propriety nvidia driver does not appear to provide the pkg-config file gl.pc would would normally be provided by mesa, therefore since packages which depend on mesa expect it to be there (in this case cairo) I had to manually add it.

I guess it depends what you qualify as fixed, this issue is fixed for me by providing my own gl.pc therefore I guess this bug is invalid as cairo is not broken, rather the fact I can't properly use mesa is the issue, though what to do about that in the prefix context I do not know :)

If I can report this better I will, up until this issue appeared it was all fine, so I welcome your thoughts.
