Description Karsten Renhak 2011-02-22 10:15:05 UTC
configure phase of pgadmin3-1.12.2 is stopping with these output:

checking for libpq-fe.h... no
checking PostgreSQL in /usr... failed
configure: error: you must specify a valid PostgreSQL 8.4+ installation with --with-pgsql=DIR

Of course I'v installed and set up postgresql with this stable versions:
=dev-db/postgresql-base-9.0.3
=dev-db/postgresql-server-9.0.3

I'll add the config.log as an attachment.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

From my reading on another pgsql bug, make sure you use eselect to set your postgres version. After you do that, you should be able to merge pgadmin.

Which one, for the record?

bug 355463 which I came across while checking bug-wranglers bugs earlier today.

That solved the problem.

But it is quite strange that the unmerge of postgresql-server:8.4 didn't eselect the only remaining installed slot as the current active version.

@postgresql:

this is a good point. Any comments?

It is a flaw in the old module. A new module should be making it to the tree sometime soon here.

I've designed the new module so that it will generate the symbolic links for the latest slot available if the user hasn't selected a slot or if the previously selected slot is no longer available.

It's a complete rewrite, so it'll be masked, but it should resolve this issue and others like it.
Comment 8 Aaron W. Swenson gentoo-dev 2011-04-23 10:47:17 UTC
And this is fixed now with app-admin/postgresql-1.0.6.
